What do we recycle?
Croxley recycling is the most comprehensive recycler of office e-waste in the country, with cardboard, plastic, metal, toner and electronics accepted at Croxley’s 18,000 business collection points found throughout the country.
Read on to see what we recycle and how your waste is re-purposed using state-of-the art technology.
Returned collection boxes contain cardboard packaging and this packaging material is collected and stored within old collection boxes.
Once enough material is collected we flatten old collection boxes with all other cardboard packaging and sent off for recycling.
Cartridges are received, sorted according to plastic types:
- ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadienne Styrene)
- PP (Polypropylene)
- PS (Polystyrene Plastic)
- HDPE (High Density Polyethylene)
- PE (Polyethylene)
The cartridges are then dismantled into component parts and cleaned.
The plastic waste is then sold for further recycling.
Cartridges have steel and aluminium components in their construction. These are stripped, stored and supplied to our metal salvage partner.
Toner collected via the recycling scheme is exported for ‘waste to energy’ usage.
E-waste can be defined as any electronic device that is either obsolete or unwanted.
There is often many toxic substances contained in the products (Lead, nickel, cadmium, brominated fire retardants etc) and as such e-waste requires appropriate collection and recycling.
The industry in New Zealand is currently unregulated with varying standards of responsible recycling.
Croxley Recycling is looking to set the standard in E-waste recycling.
We are New Zealand’s only Environmental Choice licensed e-waste recycler.
This ensure all processes and outputs are sustainable, documented and audited.
